Regal, vibrant, and a little otherworldly, The Elephant reimagines one of nature’s most powerful creatures through the vivid blue palette of the Sunshine Studios wildlife collection.
I restarted this piece three separate times before I finally decided I liked it. I love elephants, they’re wise & typically kind creatures. They are the definition of Majesty, and I hoped to capture this in the work. Hundreds of brushstrokes make up the trunk and beautiful metallic gold and copper pay homage to just how divine I find them to be.
The piece draws on the elephant’s associations with wisdom, strength, memory, and resilience, transforming the familiar into something more ornate and fantastical.

Sometimes that means turning an animal into something almost otherworldly. Sometimes it means transforming an experience into color, texture, and movement. And sometimes, it simply means following an idea just to see where it leads.
The goal isn't to make everything beautiful.
It's to discover what beauty might already be there.
Why “Sunshine”?
My mother called me her Sunshine. The name stayed with me, and today it represents something I hope to carry into everything I create: the idea that art can illuminate, transform, surprise, and help us see something differently.
